Salvatore Messina

Salvatore Messina serves as NCEL’s Development Director. He is experienced in donor acquisition, grant writing, donor relations, and stewardship. Prior to his role at NCEL, Salvatore worked as the Partnerships Manager for Reach—a Swiss nonprofit working to eradicate rheumatic heart disease globally, and prior to that, he worked in development at the Howard University Medical Alumni Association. Salvatore approaches donor partnerships from an impact-focused point of view, and works to build meaningful relationships with those wishing to engage with causes important to them.

Salvatore’s interest in environmental health and legislation grew during his time living in an environmental sustainability-focused residential community at the University at Albany. There, he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History. In his free time, he enjoys listening to rock and rap music, visiting museums and art installations, and training his rescue dog, Zinnia.
