What Does the New FERC Transmission Planning Rule Mean for Me: An Explainer for State Legislators
June 13, 2024
On May 13, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released their long-awaited transmission planning rule that will revolutionize the way regions across the country think about the grid. Long term transmission planning is critical for the construction of a resilient, efficient, and reliable grid, and the new ruling will set more holistic criteria for evaluation of transmission projects, require consideration of grid-enhancing technologies (GETs), and center states in determining cost allocation of different projects.
Order 1920 is over 1300 pages. This webinar broke down the new order highlighting what state legislators need to know to encourage robust and ambitious implementation of the ruling in your state.
